ONE MAN BAND
People usually assume the life of a touring musician is exciting. I certainly did when I first picked up Iron Maiden’s Live After Death and saw the band in all these remote locations around the world.
The truth is this: more often than not, bands find themselves most often on the tour bus or in the hotel room, and are only really alive when they’re on stage. For a solo musician, I can only imagine it’s much more difficult.
Thus, “One Man Band” was born. This will be the title of my still-to-be-recorded second album. (It’s on my to-do list, I swear!)
GOOD CLEAN LIVIN’
Okay, let’s not mince words here… I’m an absolute goober when it comes to life. Never have taken an illegal (or recently legalized) substance in my life, yet I hang around musicians who, aah, don’t necessarily share my particular viewpoints. To celebrate/make fun of my nerdiness (and to gently needle my friends who indulge in alternative substances), I came up with this little ditty that owes more than a slight debt to “Bob Dylan’s 115th Dream,” down to the delivery. (Here’s hoping he won’t sue me.)
SONG FOR DAWN
Every once in a while, I’m blessed to have the opportunity to share the stage with some amazing musicians who take my music to levels I’ve only heard in my head. Oscar Green and Maxwell Melendrez from Spirit Shakers are two of my musical brothers from other mothers. Here we are performing the closing track from Ode at Public Craft Brewing in Kenosha – how I miss performing there on a regular basis!
